Artikel ini ada di Republika tanggal 5 Juni 2010 di kolom . Yup.., 'Many species. One Planet. One Future' itu adalah tema World Environment Day (WED) PBB tahun 2010, yang emang sesuai dgn tahun 2010 sebagai tahun internasional keanekaragaman hayati (International Year of Biodiversity). Terus menyitir dari tulisan yg sama yg membahas tema World Environment Day PBB dari tahun ke tahun yuk kita kilas balik tema WED mulai dari tahun 1976. Dimulai dari tahun 1972 ketika PBB mengadakan konferensi lingkungan hidup di Stockholm, Swedia yang kemudian hari tersebut ditetapkan sebagai World Environment Day atau Hari Lingkungan Hidup Sedunia. Beda lagi dengan Hari Bumi atau Earth Day yg sejak tahun 1970 diperingati setiap 22 April. Nah, setiap tahunnya PBB mengeluarkan tema peringatan WED yaitu :

Nah, tema2 diatas menunjukkan kalau perjuangan menyelamatkan bumi telah dimulai lebih dari 30 tahun yg lalu, bahkan istilah Global Warming telah dipopulerkan lebih dari 15 tahun yg lalu. Keberadaan air, pembangunan tak terkendali, laut dan samudera, pohon, serta CO2 telah silih berganti menjadi tema perjuangan penyelamatan bumi, dan sepertinya berapapun lamanya WED telah digagas namun masih belum mampu membendung laju kerusakan bumi yang terus menerus terjadi. Kenyataan yg ironis dan tragis.
